The Four Basic Principles Behind Luigi’s Best

We started Luigi’s Best not only to create a great neighborhood pizzeria with amazing calzones, but also to make the world a better place. There’s not enough of that going around.

Quality: We use the highest quality ingredients we can find. Our “00” flour, San Marzano tomatoes, & genuine prosciutto, Gorgonzola, & Parmigiano Reggiano are imported from Italy. We use organic & locally supplied ingredients when available. Our sausage is made locally with our recipe and local pork. You can taste the difference at Luigi’s Best.

Sustainability: With the Climate Change emergency being of ever more importance with each passing day, all of us need to do something about it. Our location is in a denser part of St. Louis Park, in a mixed use building with apartments above & behind us, and now across the street. Southwest Light Rail (SWLRT or the Green Line extension) opens in 2023 & will run right behind us, with a stop at Wooddale Ave. When the Cedar Lake Trail reopens in late 2021, we’ll have easy bike access for customers (& for deliveries). The city is also installing bike lanes & better sidewalks on Monterey Blvd., Beltline Blvd., & 36th St. in 2022. There’s plenty of free bike parking in front, behind, & on the east side of our building. Many people have concerns about plastics and they fact that while they are theoretically recyclable, most aren’t. So we don’t sell bottled water in plastic containers. Instead, our drinks come in easily recyclable glass bottles & aluminum cans. And all our takeout containers & utensils are compostable, including the 2 oz. sauce, condiment, & salad dressing containers.

Equity: Our third basic principle was originally Community. But after the protests & events unfolded after the tragic George Floyd killing, we broadened this principle to be Equity. You can’t really have community without equity, can you? All are welcome at Luigi’s Best without regard to race, religion, gender identity, or sexual preference (customers, employees, & suppliers), and we believe that Black Lives Matter. Luigi’s Best is an LGBT-owned business.

Wellness: Some people think of pizza as junk food. Luigi’s Best pizza is anything but. Our top quality ingredients and our menu selections are chosen to provide options that help sustain your wellness. Along with imported, local, & organic ingredients, we offer drinks made with real sugar instead of corn syrup, with significant quantities of real fruit juice. We offer milk as an option. Our Signature pizzas have less but higher quality cheese. Our salads feature delicious combinations of tasty ingredients, with seasonal options. Eating well has never tasted so good!
